Help required to get dell 1720 laptop to factory settings

Hello there i've been recommended to come to this website by a friend. I'm here with my friends Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop, and she wishes for me to set it back to factory settings due to a serious virus that she has on it......I have managed to get to the Advanced boot options menu....and i was told that there is meant to be an option that says repair your computer, but i cannot seem to find it.............as i'm desperate to sort out this problem for my friend....help urgent help is required. the operating system is windows Vista
