My mother has windows XP. For months whenever she would type a URL, Google would send her to an irrelevant site. It is believed that her internet browser was hi-jacked. She installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in hopes of snuffing out whatever was doing this. However, she has a lost access to Internet Explorer completely. Is there any hope to fix this problem?

Can you explain in a little more depth how your mom has "lost access to Internet Explorer"?

Restart in safe mode with networking and see if your internet connection works.

So it turns out, my mom's internet is fine now but for some reason an icon on her launch bar says 'wireless connection lost.'
