my computer programs dont recognize my dvd drives

I am having a problem with my computer that my application wont recognize my dvd drives at all. I could see the dvr drives on my computer but when trying to burn a movie on my dvd santa software or any program that uses a dvd drive wont wont work. Is there anything that i did wrong or something that its causing my programs from not reading the dvd drives. Can anyone help on this please any questions about it let me know i tried to explain it as much as I can
