My computer was infected with the Security System Virus. It seemed as if it disabled my McAfee security center and then I started getting all the pop-ups and various different disruptions. I attended to run McAfree but it was shut down by the virus/malware and would not work. After searching and finding out about the virus online, i attended to download and run both Spydoctor and the Malwarebytes programs. However, once I downloaded them, they were unable to be run. I searched more and found a post from about a month ago on the Malwarebytes about new things the program is doing to prevent itself from being removed. I found a similar post on this site, relisting the steps that should be taken. I followed the steps and downloaded and ran the microsoft sysinternal Process Explorer. After it started running the first time, at this point I began looking for the Shield Icon to kill it and removed it, my computer went into a Blue Screen with information I did not understand and was forced to shut the computer down. After restarting the computer, some of the more obnoxious pop-ups and the like were gone, however, the sound and the inability to run .exe files was still present. I then ran the Process Explorer again, however the Shield Icon was not there. I rebooted again and again ran the program without success. I cannot seem to find the Security Shield Icon anywhere and don't want to risk eliminating something I may need. I was reading that it was normally found under the explorer.exe topic line, but it is not there. I searched more online, but could not find anymore information on what do to. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the assistance as I hope to avoid the expense of having to take it in to something like geek squad or similar company, or avoid completely wiping out windows and reinstalling.

Hi,

Sorry for delayed response. Forums have been really busy. If you still need help with this do following, please.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
