IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers

I just got a company laptop from my boss and every time I start it up it tells me it cannot install two IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers (one is hdc, I don't know what it is). I went to the device manager and tried to install it manually but it says "device not intended for this platform." What do I need to do?
