Hi,

Please could somebody shed some light on a technical problem I am having? I have recently been cleaned of a spyware infection at malwareremoval.com . Before this infection my computer was running fine, yet during the infection, and even now after the infection, my computer has been crashing. The crash can happen whether online surfing in a browser, or offline watching/listening to media. My screen freezes, gradually becomes totally unresponsive and a beeping drone is emitted from the computer. I am then forced to shutdown by turning the power off. Is my hardrive failing?
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer on the matter.

Never heard of a hard drive...instigating beeps of any sort.

I had a system overheat once when a CPU fan stopped functioning...it set off some sort (I can't remember now what it was) of system alarm and I changed it before any real damage was done.

I would check the system to see that all fans work and check the CPU temperature (in the BIOS).

I'd also check Event Viewer for error messages, How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/

I have checked the temperature of my CPU with Everest which gives is as: Field Value
Seagate ST3160812AS 33 C (91 F)
My event manager lists a number of errors which I have tried to copy as a log but I am not sure if this makes any sense:

My fan is working yet the inside of my computer is extremely dusty. Could this be a case of overheating because the air cannot be circulated propely because of all the dust? Or is it more likely to be hardware failure - I am thinking it is too coincidental for this to happen during/after a spyware infection.
