When I right click my computer icon and select properties,it shows I have 2 DVD drives installed. "D and E".

I only have one DVD drive installed. I dont see an option with right click to delete the extra drive.
How can I get rid of the extra drive icon?

How many drives are reflected in Device Manager?

Have you installed any programs which utilize virtual drives?

Thanks for the response.

There is one DVD drive listed in Device manager.
The only install I've done lately is the demo for Crysis.
I have uninstalled it.

I did install an XBOX 360 controller for Windows.

Could this be it?

Does the XBox controller show in Device Manager?

What's reflected in Device Manager...is slightly more important that what appears in My Computer.

I have no idea as to whether your XBox is what is reflected in My Computer...you should be able to right-click on it and select Properties..and get a clue as to what it might be.

I did a little reading and don't have the environment for your situation, but my interpretation is that the XBOX device will indeed show up in My Computer (as a DVD drive) as long as it is plugged in and will not in Device Manager. Normal.

I thought about a USB storage device or maybe a camera - you plug it in, it shows up in My Computer as a Removable Disk, but it will never show up in Device Manager and I think you are just hanging your XBOX off an already installed USB port?

An XBOX is really just a DVD player anyway, so I think your observation makes good sense and what you see is the best interpretation Windows can apply to it.

If you unplug the XBOX, does it leave My Computer?

Its not an "Xbox",but a wireless interface for the 360 controller. I use it for FPS games.
sry for any confusion.

Even after I unplug it from the usb port the extra drive still shows.

Heres a pic of "My computer"

Ehhh... Honestly, I was just guessing based on some limited research and cannot replicate your environment. Nor can I come up with a better theory.

There sure is a lot to read when people have trouble with this configuration though!

I give the floor back to hamluis et al.
