ok so a week ago the pc (an hp) one year old crashed took it to the geek squad there was no way to retrieve the info. so i reloaded all the programs and the pc has been ok for about a week. not every time i turn it on there is a change in something. (ie: the background reverted to a different photo never used before, an IM picture has been changed, there is a missing folder that was there the night before, a document that is now in the recycle bin). Any ideas on what is going on

Have you reinstalled your AV application? Make sure you run a full system scan with your AV program. Check if anyone has been messign with your system while you were not aware - could just be a family member messing around!
