I have norton internet security which is always trying to block Skynet.dll which i have learned is a root kit.
I instaled Spyware doctor and it has blocked it better but now i get an anoying error message saying
that SKYNet.DLL is not running properly and something about a bad img.
is returning vista to factory condition to remove this? i also have an external hard drive
could that have gotten infected?

Skynet.dll is very tricky to get rid of, reinstallation would be best

is returning vista to factory condition to remove this?

Using the disks that came with your computer is better than using the recovery partition
There's a slight chance the recovery partition could be compromised

i also have an external hard drive could that have gotten infected?

Again, there is always that possibility

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
