Over the years I've used a couple of different programs, McCafee, Norton, Zone Alarm ect...

Obviously during this time all these programs have quarateened suspicious, harmful, and potentially harmful
things and or removed them.

Is it safe to remove these programs using a simple uninstall of either the programs removal or the PC uninstall or another removal tool?

What happens to the items the were quaranteened upon removal of said tools?

In my mind if the program that held them is uninstalled then they could be unleashed unsafely back onto the PC.

Are there specific steps that should be taken to remove the old antivirus programs we no longer use because say..we're now using spybot, Malwarebytes ects?

Much appreciate your response and help.

May we start by asking you what is your present installed antivirus program ..or, what do YOU beleive is /are your antivirus programs??

You are aware that Spybot and Malwarebytes are NOT antivirus programs?

We use AVG free versions on 2 PC's for the antivirus and spybot and malware to scan and clean.

I am not sure what happens to the quarantined items upon removal of the programs but I would just delete everything in the quarantined files before removing the programs. Also I would not remove the files until I was sure that the computer was running well with those files being held in quarantine.
