Yesterday I noticed that when I tried to open Firefox it would not open. I checked the Task Manager and there were two instances of firefox.exe running. Also, when I tried to close Firefox there would be an instance running until I ended the process with the Task Manager. I searched for some information about this issue and found this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox.exe_always_open#Background

I followed the steps mentioned in this section of the article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox.exe_alwa...ence_of_malware

After changing my default browser to Internet Explorer, I did indeed notice multiple instances in the Task Manager when I opened it.

When looking in the registry editor in the section mentioned, I did not notice any entries with only a StubPath entry.

I ran scans with MalwareBytes Antimalware, Super Antispyware, Spybot S&D and Avast but all failed to detect anything.

I also tried a clean reinstall of Firefox but the problem persisted.

Thanks for any help you can give.
