Last night, my computer contracted the XP Deluxe Protector malware. It was giving me all the suspicious pop ups and was making Internet Explorer run poorly - I couldn't log into my yahoo mail account. It really is an official looking virus, but of course seemed totally wrong that it would pop up out of the blue like that. Luckily, my Windows XP was configured for multiple users, so I was able to log on as another user with no difficulties.

I have Norton 360, and contacted them... they wanted to charge me $100 to download their software to remove the XP deluxe protector. I felt that that was outrageous considering that I had already paid for the software and service. I disconnected the online chat telling them I would be back if I couldn't figure it out for myself.

Then I did a search for XP Deluxe Protector and found the bleepingcomputer.com removal instructions. Very simple to use, free to download... and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you very much BleepingComputer! (And suck it Norton :flowers:)
