Dell bought Alienware .
The Dell XPS series are pretty much rebranded Alienware's .

I would look at the Dell XPS series & only consider the ones that have a actual video card.
OCZ StealthXstream 700W,Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R , E8500, Arctic Freezer Pro 7, 3GB G.Skill PC8500,Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 OC [1GB ], Seagate 250GB SATA II X2 in RAID 0, Samsung SATA DVD burner.

Holy ram, that is waaaaay overpriced for the trash you get.....look,it costs a 200$ to upgrade to 4Gb ram(Its 20 bucks worth of ram for Pete's sake!),and thats anCore 2 duo, with only 2Mb of cache and runs at only 2.1GHz,with a 800MHz FSB,and the video card on that thing is a old low end solution,
I think you should take a look at the lineups of:ASUS,gateway(they have a great deal on a 17' laptop with a ton of gaming features),and MSI.
I mean MSI's low end GX630-001US for 800$ USD has a way better processor(P8400,3MB,1330 MHz,2.26GHz{2.61GHz with Turbo mode on}),GPU(9600M GT 512),more ram (4GB) and simply looks better(Black brushed Aluminum with red or silver accents ).

Honestly that dell is not a gaming laptop,it is just a basic user laptop, its the video card that makes the laptop, something that that does not have much of.
