I've had this computer for about 4 years now and it was infected a little while back with A LOT of nasty infections: rootkits, worms, malware, adware, etc. I thought I had the problem fixed but it only lasted a few days. Since I know that this system has been compromised I would just like to delete everything off the computer and start over again. I was wondering if this is something I am capable of doing myself or should I just hire a professional? My machine is an Emachine T6524. A friend told me a few years ago that to wipe a computer "clean", it would have to be erased, like, 8 times. I don't remember this computer coming with a CD but I have windowsxp on 3 disks from a previous computer. Any advise?
