  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool.ááNo input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note:ááYou may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.ááAfter downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection.ááRun the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.áá

Hi,

You seem to have multiple antivirus programs installed there. Decide which one you want to keep of these:
avast! Antivirus
AVG Free 8.5

Do you have McAfee installed? There're some signs of it but it doesn't seem to be listed among the installed ones.

When you've uninstalled not used antivirus program(s), disable word wrap in notepad (to make logs appear in more readable format) and re-run DDS. Post back contents of dds.txt file.

Thanks. I uninstalled several antivirus / antispyware and kept AVG, superantispyware, malawarebytes. McAfee and Norton had been used previously, but they had been almost as bad as any virus.... Here is the new dds.txt log. THks again

Hi again :thumbup2:

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
    Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New dds.txt log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

OK / Thks again for sticking with me. Different side of the pond is making this slow going!. Anyway, followed instructions and had a few interesting things happen. Could not figure out how to disable McAfee - it's old, I thought I had it, but I just got the firewall. So Combofix ran with the old McAfee running. Then i had two re-boots that Combofix triggered. It asked me to note some files before one of the reboots...
c:\windows\system32\drivers\hjgruiibqjlkap.sys
c:\windows\system32\hjgruibgmovbwy.dll
c:\windows\system32\hjgruilvqixdlf.dat
c:\windows\system32\hjgruiueifkqlc.dat
c:\windows\system32\hjgruiyvoaivmn.dll

These are also in the log which I'll attach. THe DDS.txt is below. Thks so much for your continued help!

Hi again,

Please use this removal tool to get rid of McAfee remnants since it seems there are only some parts of it left.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring]
"DisableMonitoring"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecAntiVirus]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecFirewall]

Save this as
CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Uninstall old Adobe Reader versions and get the latest one (9.1 + update 9.1.2 for it) here or get Foxit Reader here. Make sure you don't install toolbar if choose Foxit Reader! You may also check free readers introduced here.

Thanks - Looks like lots of work for me tonight! :thumbup2:

Just to be sure, I run the combofix again (after adding the script) and then clean / update per your suggestions?

Hi,

Need to see only ComboFix log that will be created after adding the script among other requested reports. No need for two ComboFix reports :thumbup2:

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log & a fresh dds.txt log. How's the system running?

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Thks. We haven't done any surfing since we started running logs - didn't want to corrupt anything or take any chances. Overall, the PC seems to be running faster though. The Kapersky scan, however, took almost 3 hours! Will run the CF again tonight per instructions. Thks for sticking with us and helping!

The Kapersky scan, however, took almost 3 hours!

No need to worry about that :thumbup2:. Big part of reports I've seen has had duration several hours.

Shall wait for the reports.
