Hi.I just installed windows 7 rc 64 bit on a second internal hard drive. The first one is running vista. It was a clean install that took a very long time (6-7 hours)
The problem is it's running ridiculously slow and the cpu usage in task manager is almost always at 100%.I have no programs installed and no anti-virus.I didn't connect to the internet.I can't seem to figure out what's wrong.
I would appreciate any help.Thanks

It took 6-7 hours?! It takes nothing more than 20 minutes for me on a Dual Core 2.0 Ghz processor and 2 Gigz of RAM. Something is wrong with your system.

I removed the pata drive i was installing it on and put a new sata drive in but it didn't make any difference.
I read somewhere that i should maybe remove a stick of ram when installing, that's the only thing i haven't tried

Found the problem,i removed one of the 2gb ram sticks (which work fine on vista 32 bit) and now it runs as it should.
Now i have a new problem, the only reason i downloaded the 64 bit was to utilise all 4 gigs.

hey,

Windows 7 should use all of your 4Gigs even with a x32 install!

didn't know windows 7 could use all 4,thought it was like vista.
Well, i have the 64 bit working fine now and your post is going to force me to buy more ram to justify using the 64 bit version.
