Hi,

If desktop.ini or thumb.db files are deleted, can they be restored if necessary? I noticed a couple of desktop.ini files in my doc or my pics, don't remember where, but my machine is set to hide such files & I don't normally see them. I deleted them & waited a few days prior to dumping the recycle bin to be sure they were not needed. Is it possible that a pic or software that I downloaded had ini files attached? If so, still not sure why they wouldn't be hidden. Anyway, I have been known to delete such a file if it shows up out of nowhere

Can anyone offer me any clarification? BTW...I am fairly certain that I am not infected...

Thanks

My understanding is that it is perfectly safe to delete these files if you want to. Windows will recreate them if and when it sees fit to.

Hi again Budapest :-)

Windows will recreate them if and when it sees fit to.

I was wondering too if or how to get them back as it seems as though they are recreated.

"Is it possible that a pic or software that I downloaded had ini files attached? If so, still not sure why they wouldn't be hidden." Do you know the answer to this as well?

Thanks
