I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop with more than adequate components for gaming but i cannot remember exact specs. Recently i noticed my computer was starting to run a little slower than it should. occasionally this happens when running for long periods of time, so i went through proper shutdown sequences and began to reboot the computer. But instead of seeing the normal user profile login screen for Windows XP Professional, a black screen with only popup window asking for user name and password (similar to the popup from returning from screensaver). once i type in my user name and password, the computer accepts it and my wallpaper appears. Unlike normal though, the icons and task bar and anything else for that matter do not appear. i use McAfee security which prompts me that it has begun to load...but that is the final step that my computer takes. from there im stuck with no icons, task bar, cant right-click, cant open task manager. the only thing i can get to appear is the pop up that asks if id like to logout, shutdown, or restart. safe mode and any other mode gives the same result. if u have any suggestions please let me know i am desprite.

Thank you for your time.

Since your post hasn't been moved you might want to repost here,

From what you have described I think you are going to have to reinstall XP to get it fixed.
