Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

I'm not sure if my computer is infected. But when I was using i last week it just wouldn't respond to any of my commands and I had to manually switch it off. And then it wouldn't turn on. It would freeze at the motherboard info (??) screen and not go anyy further. It kept saying system boot disk failure, insert and try again. Eventually after removing and replacing the hardrive it works again but I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't happen again, of if something was wrong I could fix it.

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer,

I'm not sure if my computer is infected. But when I was using i last week it just wouldn't respond to any of my commands and I had to manually switch it off. And then it wouldn't turn on. It would freeze at the motherboard info (??) screen and not go anyy further. It kept saying system boot disk failure, insert and try again. Eventually after removing and replacing the hardrive it works again but I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't happen again, of if something was wrong I could fix it.

That sounds like your old hard drive was failing and eventually it stopped working all together. Are you saying that you replaced the hard drive with a new one?

Your version of Adobe Reader is out of date. Navigate to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs, and uninstall Adobe Reader 8.0

After that, download the latest version from Adobe's website, or alternatively download the less bloated, open source (free) Foxit Reader.

C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe
uRun: [ares] "c:\program files\ares\Ares.exe" -h

The use of P2P programs is going to get you infected, since P2P programs, in addition to cracks and keygens, are by far the most common source of malware.

Are you encountering any problems? If so, describe them in detail. Your logs do not indicate the presence of malware.

I didn't replace my hardrive with a new one. I simply removed it and then replaced the same one again and now it works, but I just wanted to known if there was anything I can do to prevent it happening again.

Okay.

In that case, the connection between the IDE or SATA cable and your hard drive may not have been connected properly, and that reconnecting it made it more stable. Unless you're experiencing any other symptoms that would indicate a failing hard drive, I think you're good to go.

Okay that's awesome news thanks. The only thing that is different now is that the when i urn the comp on it freezes at the motherboard screen and I have to press tab to move it on to the next screen. But that's only a minor thing, so yeah.
Thanks again for the help.

You might be able to look through your BIOS settings to avoid pressing tab (tab skips to POST).

If that's your only issue, you should be fine...

Best of luck with your computer!
