I was warned two days ago that a Trojan virus was identified by my antivirus software Proventia and asked if I wanted to remove. I said yes. Special note it also said virus protection was out-dated. I tried to go to my company's path to get the updates and that is when I discovered the problem.

Yesterday, I went to normally log into a vpn path on IE which I do everyday and it was not found, I tried an ftp path I went to all the time again, not found, In Outlook, I tried to do send/receive messages, not found.

I am not going to list the company name, but the commonality between all these, the URL and the Outlook account is that they all have The company name.com somewhere in their path or account name, such as abc.com or dell.com company users would have.

Working from a different computer at a different location, no problem. So it is not something between me and the company, it is something with this computer and the other computer on the home network not getting anything from company.com.

I have two separate computers on the same home wireless network using a personal LinkSys Cable router and both fail the same way, both had worked for years with these paths prior to yesterday. I have rebooted, multiple times. I tried loading Firefox and accessing thru there still "Server Cannot be found". All other URL's appear to be working fine, but just these specific with company.com somewhere in the path and the corresponding Outlook account also referencing the same company.com fails.

Reading others sites indicates this is caused by a virus or unstable setting in the registry, would hate to have to rebuild computer because of this.

Below is my HiJack log along with the advised attach.txt

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine.  Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links.  Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool.  No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note:  You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.  After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection.  Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

thank you,
The error was resolved from the ISP provider.

I gave a tracert to them inidicating the 2 hops and then failure to one of the URL's, that cleared it for all the URL's this was not a virus, although web searches indicated quite often it was the cause of a virus.
