Whenever I resume my media pc from sleep, the USB ports no longer function,
and the only thing I have plugged into it is a USB wireless trackball keyboard.

I have to manually kill the pc with the power button and restart to get the
keyboard working again.

I've tried another USB keyboard, and a couple flash drives, so the issue isn't the components. The ports just don't work.

When it resumes, I hear the tones of a device being disconnected, then connected, then disconnected.

I've scoured the internet, with hundreds of hits to the same issue, but none
of the fixes have worked.

PC Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 2.6GHz
Foxconn M61PMV
OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800
Vista Ultimate x86

That didn't work.

My USB Root Hub Properties are set to not shut off to save power
so it should not be able to shut off the USB.?

I've also downloaded the Hotfix from Microsoft, but upon install, it
says it "Does not apply to this system".

Hi, the only other options I can come up with is make sure your chipset drivers are up to date. It may require a bios upgrade...but not for the fiant hearted! Also turn off the power setting as hard booting the PC is not a good thing.
