Please help resolve issue with browsers that won't display web page. I can connect to the web through ISP AOL but cannot use IE8 or firefox and cannot download files.
Note: IE8 address bar HTTP://www is grayed out with just the web site address not grayed out. Have tried different web sites with same results or msg in address block as follows: res://webhelper.dll/dnserror.htm#http://googlemaps.com/

Tried system restore but didn't resolve issue.
Operating system is Windows XP Version 5.1, SP3
Internet connection is dialup modem

Any suggestions?
