Hello there BC,

Yesterday, I switched my laptop on to find my backlight was acting like a lightswitch,Do uoi know where a light flickers off and on etc, Well I took a look into the Event Viewer and found there was something wrong with Plug and Play

I just got this logfile before C:\DOCUME~1\LISAHA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERd032.dir00\Mini062809-01.dmp

C:\DOCUME~1\LISAHA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERd032.dir00\sysdata.xml

caused my laptop to restart

My Laptop has been in the family for about 6 years,

I have attached the Event log

Any help greatly appreciated

JAKE

Hi jacob,

I don't think this is a malware problem and I'll ask that your thread be moved to the software forum. Have you updated your microsoft.NET Framework? The version referenced in your event log is outdated, so I think this would be a good place to start.

There's a Microsoft download site for this, but I don't know which version you should download, so I would recommend that you first talk to someone in Software. The different versions can be found here:

Do you have all your Windows updates? The order in which the updates are installed makes a difference for some of them.

Have you tried the easy solution of going back to an earlier restore point? This would make a difference if the problem is caused by a software conflict, which can sometimes occur if a new driver or program has been installed.

If you've never done this before, Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore
check the box to Restore my computer to an earlier time and click on Next. You'll see a calendar with highlighted dates. Choose one of the dates just preceeding these problems and allow your system to return to that date. See if the problem goes away.
If this doesn't work, go back into System Restore as per the above instructions, only this time choose the option to reverse the change you made.

For Vista: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/...43.html#restore

Thanks.
