Just curious, where are you guys buying from? I've been asked by a number of people where the best deals are out there and it looks like Best Buy's free shipping upgrade looked like the best deal.

Cheers,

For a build it yourself person, looks like a complicated choice to wait or not

I thought I had pre-ordered. Checked my Newegg account today and my pre-order was gone!!! Typed in my order # and nothing.

Ordered another, this time with Amazon.

Did you check your statement to make sure you hadn't been billed?

Ron,

I haven't been billed

My pre-order has returned to Newegg???

I'll give a copy to my daughter to upgrade her laptop w/Vista.

Have a question concerning the Windows7 upgrade. I have dedicated desktop that I use as a guinea pig. I downloaded and installed Windows7RC on it. Will I be able to use the upgrade to install Windows7 on it, or am I stuck upgrading my desktop w/Vista to Windows7?

I haven't had any problems with Vista and been using it for over a year.

Regards

Jim

I got mine online from the Microsoft Store.

They wont bill your credit card until it is shipped (or ready for download)

I paid $58.28 - This includes taxes and shipping to Norwich, CT.

Not too bad i think, even with paying for shipping.

Jim P,

i am running Windows 7 RC right now. I upgraded from Windows Xp Home. You do however need to do a clean install. It wouldnt let me "upgrade" rigth over top of my Xp installation.

Derek,

I'm using Windows7RC now. I installed it on my spare computer which had Ubuntu 8.10. This is a self built unit that I use to try different distros of Linux.

I like windows7 and would like to keep on this computer.

I need to know if the windows7 upgrade software will let me do that, or do I need the OEM or retail version?

I would wait till the smoke clears, the oem versions are technically what you should purchase, they are significantly cheaper than retail.
