Ok, i run Avast and Spybot on my computer and a week or so ago, avast came up with its small warnign across the bottom of my screen about a virus on a website. Of course i clicked the block content or end connection button(what ever the button is specificaly named). Well, today my webbrowser jumped from one website as i left the screen idol for 10 to 20 seconds, amd suddenly opened up a new website with out clicking on anything. YEP it was one of those "Warning, your computer is infected" sites. I flicked off my wireless connection and closed the browser through Ctrl+Alt+delete so i wouldnt click on any thing. This was a new one of these websites, i never seen it before. I mean i had the antivirus 2008/09. this one was different, thats all i can say i forgot to take down the information of the page.
When websites like this pop up, you know somethings on your computer. I noticed a new folder in the C:\ directory (C:\WTablet) That was there before. I clicked double clicked on it (i already have a virus so #### it) explorer stoped running and restarted its self.
After that i went to reopen the "my computer" of windows vista. START, wait there seems to be a "Show Desktop" icon in top left corner of the start menu where IE and Word are permenatly placed...That icon wasnt there before today.
Another area of interes was i went through my firewall settings and found the "remote assistance" in the exceptions to have a check mark in the box next to it. I unchecked that box a while ago. As of now, i re-unchecked the box and it seems to be ok.
Also, back to the C++ visual liabries
with a brief look through ever folder sorting everything by date modified the only things that appeared to be out of place or something i wasn't that sure about if i seen it in the past or not were the following:
Text item out of "C:\WINDOWS\setupact.txt" [06/14/2009 09:22.54.978] WudfCoInstaller: Created marker file C:\Windows\system32\drivers\Msft_User_WpdFs_01_00_00.Wdf.

C:\windows\bthservsdp

possibly this address: C:\WINDOWS\Temp\MPTelemetrySubmit

a lot has been recently modified in C:\WINDOWS\inf all within the last 3 days

C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\Temp\PendingRenames (a3cacc5dd8edc90167020000d00d5815.pending)

ok i think we get the point, if theres anymore information you need to make it easier to identify, please feel free to ask

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
