ComboFix is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

I recommend one of two paths.
1) View this guide: How to use ComboFix
2) Follow this guide and post a DDS log in the HJT forum.

That's about it. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. I will be happy to help you in any way I can.

Hello user1000,

Let's see if I can help you out a bit. If you don't understand what I have written here, please ask.

1) Please do not do anything with the Combofix log right now.

2) I need you to download a different program.

[*]Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.[*]Double click on the DDS icon, let it to run.
[*]A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. Don't do anything at this point. The tool is running.
[*]Notepad will open with the results, click "no" to the Optional_Scan

3) Leave the notepad files open at this time.

4) Now, go to this forum: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/

Click on New Topic In the posting area, please describe your computer problems.

5) Go to the Notepad file titled DDS.txt Move your mouse into the text and click then right click. Click on Select All, then right click again and click on Copy.

6) Go back to the New Topic window you have opened. Click in the posting area under the description you have written, hit Enter a couple times, then Right click then click on Paste on the menu that pops up.

7) Now go to the notepad file with the title Attach.txt

8) Click on File ==> Save as Choose Desktop to save the file to.

9) Go back to the New topic. Underneath the posting area on the right hand side, you will see a button labeled Browse. Click on that button. A window will pop up. In that window, navigate first to Desktop then click on the File called Attach.txt then click on Upload under the posting area of the topic.

10) Create a short title for your topic that describes the issue or the infection

11) Click on Post New Topic

12) Delete the DDS program. You may wish to save the other DDS log in case something goes wrong.

13) Please post back here with a link to your new topic once you have made it by clicking Add Reply at the bottom of the post.

14) Please tell us if you cannot run DDS by posting a reply to this topic.
