I have a Toshiba L45-(S7409?) with Vista home basic, 2GB of RAM and 80GB HD. One day it was working fine and the next it wasn't! When you turn the power on all you hear is the CD drive spinning. The power light is lit but the screen is black and the HD doesn't spin up. Please help me! I'm a college student and I really need my laptop.

If you get no display, period, & you are positive the HD isn't working you more then likely have a major problem in the form of a bad motherboard.

You should have a connection for a external monitor.
Hook it to one & try turning it on.
If you get no display I would suspect the motherboard is dead.
