This is my Dad's pc. He had a virus so he brought it to me..not because of my expertise(!), but because of my patience and persistance to find the solution.
It was basically shutting the whole pc down. IE would lock up (even in safe mode), lots of pop up errors...at one point we even lost the add/remove programs. I thought the pc was on its last legs.

Through the following steps I have cleared up 99% of the problems. The last noticeable problem is he is still getting bad image errors popping up.

This is what has been done:
Installed and ran AVG 8.5
Installed and ran Zonealarm (He had previously used Verizons Security Suite)
Installed and ran CCleaner..checked off everything but the Old prefetch data option. Ran this numerous times
Installed and ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware...full scan
Updated Java and deleted older version
Ran Hijackthis.

At first, I was flying blind running scans with ccleaner and malwarebytes and chkdsk. Too many errors to mention must less remember...than found some order on another site..so this was the final stages I did.

AVG deleted a lot of tracking cookies as well as 2 pup (?) infections.

HJT log is attached. The only problem left is these bad image errors popping up.

Thanks in advance!!
