Install Avast yesterday and when I run it I get regular pops. Have given extensive info on my system, configuration etc. My answers/input in red:

- What Windows version are you using?
Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2 (build 6002)

- What avast! version is installed on your computer? You can find this information in "About avast!..." dialog.
Antivirus Version 4, 8, 0, 0

- How do you connect to Internet?
ISP=DSLEXTREME.COM (DSL Connection w/router)
I need to know mainly if you're using some firewall (and which one), if you're connected via dial-up, LAN or ADSL etc.

Yes thats normal. Thats how Avast is updated.
Everytime it downloads and installs an update, it would show you it did so.
