I am having trouble with my computer just shutting down. I do not know but it seems to of happened when I updated Microsoft. It came up with so many choices and I added them all. I am sending a list of what shows in my program manager. please tell me if there are any that I could delete for my home computer. Also, I am not sure if I have xp home or professional.

Microsoft.net Framework 1.1
" " " 1.1 hot fix
" " " 2.0 Service pack 2
" " " 3.0 service pack 2
" " " 3.5 SP1
Microsoft.net Compression Client pack 1.0 for windows xp
microsoft money 05
Microsoft office professional
microsoft silverlight
microsoft user-mode driver framwork feature pack 1.0
Microsoft visual C++ 2005 Redistrubutable
Microsoft works
These are all the microsoft items on my computer. I think it was when I downloaded the silverlight stuff and others but I don't remember what all that was.

Reguardless of if this is causing the problem - I would like to know what items I do not need as a home user and I only use the computer for browsing and game playing. I know I want to keep the office items. but I don't think I need some of the other. PLEASE HELP.. Thanks you.

If you play games...you probably need anything that says MS.NET or updates to such.

Funny...Microsoft provides your operating system and you pick all of their applications to uninstall .

If you only browse and play gamse...what's the point of having MS Office installed?

Louis

Edit: Also seems pointless to have MS Works and MS Office installed on the same system. MS Works is a more inexpensive "stepchild" of MS Office.

Silverlight is Microsoft's mostly unsuccessful attempt to compete with Flash. You don't need it unless you subscribe to Netflix.
