Hi Everyone:

I have the Vista Operating System with Microsoft Works programs. I'm having trouble opening excel documents sent to me through e-mail. The document is checked for viruses but when I try to download the attachment, the following message comes up

Cannot access the document ........
Document may be open or it may be a read only. Name and path may be invalid, the document may no longer exist, or it may already be open.

I don't need to edit it so read only is fine. I'm not on a network so no one else has it open.

I hope you folks can help. I tried a Microsoft Vista help forum but that wasn't helpful at all.

Thanks

Jaybea

Hi Garmanma:

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded the Compatibility Pack, tried to open an Excel spreadsheet. No luck. I still get the same message. Any other suggestions.

Well, you could download Open Office. It's free and compatible with MS Office
