Windows\Update missing from registry

This is missing from my registry and i have just done a total reset of my PC
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate"

HP Pavillion Slimline
Vista Home Premium SP2
O/S 32 Bit
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30Ghz
2.00 GB Ram


Really miffed at this done the restore 18/6 running into 19/6/09 just after midnight installed everything i thoght i had to including SP2 got up the next morning and DNS had been turned off in servicesso started it again and then tried to run updates again but to no avail just googled wtf was happening with my windows update and read to check registry and found above reg setting totally missing no sign of any kind of update reg setting at all. :huh:

Does anyone know how to reinstall this into registry

PLEASE HELP !!!!!!

Hi, try this.
Open a command prompt and follow the instuctions:
Method 1: Register the Wups2.dll file in Windows
To register the Wups2.dll file in Windows, follow these steps:
Stop the Automatic Updates service. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
net stop wuauserv
Register the Wups2.dll file. To do this, follow these steps:
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wups2.dll
Note For a computer that is running Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 %windir%\syswow64\wups2.dll
Click OK on each verification message that you receive.
Start the Automatic Updates service. To do this, type the following command at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:
net start wuauserv
Exit the command prompt. To do this type exit, and then press ENTER

Thanks for the help have done this and will see what happens tomorrow when i try to update or i will have a look to see if there's been any automatic updates !
