**This is a copy of my initial post in Am I Infected? dated 6/17/09** That thread is here. My log for Dr. Web CureIt is in that thread.

Hello!

I've got a Dell that we purchased in December 2007. About a month or so ago, one day it wouldn't boot properly. After much time in safe mode and lots of scanning (Malwarebytes, AVG, and Super-Anti-Spyware), I got it going again. However, it is very very very slow to load the desktop items after a re-start. I don't think it should be that slow; pretty sure it wasn't before.

I had a multitude of Trojans and nasties on here that I believe I have cleaned up. Where they came from I've no idea, but they were there. Right now there seem to be a couple of things that AVG can't do anything with. Every so often I get a warning about a couple of things, try to Heal or Move to Vault, and ultimately have to Ignore.

I would greatly appreciate any help that you wise folks can offer. Whatever logs you need to see, etc, please point me in the right direction and I will provide them as quickly as possible. As soon as I can find the names of the things AVG can't touch, I'll post them.

Edited to add - I should post the OS I guess! Windows XP Home Edition. Also, I most often use the SeaMonkey browser. Occasionally I use IE for some sites that will only work on IE, and once in a great while I use FireFox.

Edited again to add: I downloaded, updated & ran a-squared. I did the 2nd scan, not the quick one, not the deep one. It came up with 2 things --

Trojan Mailfinder!IK in windows sys32 userinit.exe

and

TrojanZlob!IK in a Tivo converter program(?) AFAIK that is something from Tivo that we can use to download programs from Tivo to my computer if we want to burn them to disc.

I had a-squared quarantine those items.

Prior to that, I got two AVG messages, the ones I have been seeing, usually when I open Windows Explorer:

Win32 Cryptor
File Name C:\windows\system32\fkwkvkt.dll
Process name C:\windows\explorer.exe
Process ID 1656

and

C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe
Trojan Horse SHeur2.ACAX
and for that it named a-squared. The name of the program changes most every time.

I realized I was not supposed to install anything new after posting logs, but I spaced out and installed Sims 3 last night. Therefore I have new logs to post. Please disregard the other ones. I'm very sorry. :thumbup2:

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

I do not accept personal donations for assistance provided. I would ask that you instead consider donating the greatest gift - Organ Donation. Your organs are of no use to you when your gone. You will save a life that would otherwise be lost!
