 to BC, keilpark
Sounds like an unusually long time to format a hard disk to me.

What is type of Dell is it? Full model name please -eg Optiplex gx270.
How did your computer perform before you formatted it?
What OS was on it? How much memory do you have?

What is the make/model of your "new" hard disk.

Have you got more than 1 HDD? did you format them both.

Maby its a faulty HDD, Or maby faulty ram causeing problems, im not to sure, if its a hardware program something like " Si Software Sandra 2002 " might be able to let you no if theres a problem.

To paraphrase Joshuacat... more information like he asks for would be helpful to figure out your problem keilpark.

As for bluto's comment, which does not really add anything to the subject at hand...

I would say I hope you are speaking for yourself. I myself have a Dell 4550 Dimension and have never had ANY sort of hardware problem with it yet. Oh I am sure my hd will give out someday. lol I would add that I have never had to resort to using Dell's own tech help as I have heard such horror stories. If I have ever needed any help it has been software.. or spyware related.. never technical trouble. And I know where to find that sort of help when I need it, right here at Bleeping Computer. I love my Dell and it has been a very good computer for me when you consider the use my family and I have got out of it. It is on all day.. and most of the night too.. everyday. It works very hard for me and I love it. Dell can make a great computer.. HA! Maybe I have the only good Dell Computer in the whole country because ..?

Pandy's Dell Rocks!!
