ok i'm trying to install java onto my computer, and when it tries to run windows installer this message pops up on me. "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Hi Taz,
What's the name of the Java package and where did you download it from? It may be a corrupted file.

Here is the page I used - you need the first option, instructions are on the right.
