Hi folks

I tried to post with an older HJT log but I got your message indicating that I needed to update HJT and thus the post didn't seem to stay. I know am probably breaking the protocol here as I do not have a DDS log or the most current version of HJT, but my computer is so compromised right now that I can't even download small programs. Even if I could I probably couldn't run them successfully. Getting ANY application open right now is hit or miss and eventually my system just bogs down. I was able to get the old HJT log since that was at least already installed.

Symptoms are as follows:

- Windows Defender has warned of several Trojans (win32/Renos and win32/microjoin.gen!C) but seems unable to quarantine them
- Constant internet windows opening with all manner of junk in them
- Spyware pop ups with fake antispyware. In addition, when Windows starts, there is actually a fake antispyware 'warning' which I have to click OK before I can get any further
- No access to task manager ("Your administrator has disabled Task Manager")
- When I did manage to get System Restore Wizard open, there was not a single restore point...I'm pretty sure I didn't disable it on my own.
- IE will open and I can browse briefly, but eventually everything just grinds to a halt because of the new browser windows opening and system runs out of Virtual Memory

Can I run the new version of HJT from a floppy? Please let me know what route I should take here

As no logs have been posted, I am shifting this topic from the specialized HiJack This forum to the Am I Infected forum.

Hello,

I see that you were successful in getting DDS to run and have posted a new topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/234584/computer-is-trashed-renos-and-microjoingenc-trojans-identified-by-windows-defender/

Now that you have posted a log, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.

Orange Blossom
