windows won't see medvdrom drive

hi all

I have a small but very enoying pb with my pc, after a complet reinstall of windows family edition, windows will not see the 2 dvd drives.
they are connected correctl, i checked.
I also noticed that they are not being seen in the bios and can't get my bios to see them.
can any one shed some light on this strange going ons please ?

my set up is as follows:
P4 3gh
1gb ram duel channel
gigabyte mb
redeon gfx 512mb
80gb sata hdd
160gb sata hdd

Try disconnecting them 1 at a time & see if either is detected by itself.

If they worked before & you changed nothing check the connections at the drives & motherboard

You could also try loading the default BIOS settings in case they had managed to get changed somehow.

What brand & model motherboard ?

You indicated Gigabyte, but not the model.

its a GIGABYTE GA-8I915pm
do you think a bios upgrade could do the trick?
