I've been getting redirected when I click on links from google. Also, my internet connects is fine but lately when I try to go to some pages all I get is a window saying that there is no internet connection when there actually is. I've seen on the HJT log something called antivaresys.com which may have something to do with it? Any help? Here is a copy of my most recent HJT...
UPDATE:My computer just shut down on its own due to a "blue screen error." The reason for this error was unknown. Please assist asap.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

ok, about 2 weeks ago I started having my google searches redirect me to bogus sites, at the same time, I also started getting pop ups wanting me to buy antivirus software. And another thing, when I would log into ebay a window would come up after I entered my password and id and it asked me to "verify" my info by submitting c.c. # address, and so on. Of course, I know all this stuff is total bogus and would never fall for such, but now I'm afraid to log into my bank account and paypal online...
Mbam showed over 30 infections over the course of two or three scans and AVG also showed backdoor, rootkit and trojans.
I have recieved help in another topic and the problems mentioned all seem to be gone although I'm afraid my computer will never be the same. I am worried about hackers finding a way in and going through deleted items and finding something that could put me at risk for ID fraud. Isn't there a way to shred that stuff? But again, everything seems to be running well now.
If there is anything you could do to advise me or help with this situation, it would be gladly appreciated. Feel free to look at my other topic that mentions Trojan Sheur2 for more info on what has been done so far. Thanks.
Here is the most current dds log....

Hello.

The infections that can cause redirects often have backdoor capabilities.

I still see a leftover file from the infection.

Posted ImageBackdoor Threat
I'm sorry to say that your computer was infected with one or more backdoor trojans.

This means that sensitive information could have been stolen. I would advise to change any passwords for any accounts that you have accessed with the infected computer using a clean computer ASAP. If you have used this computer for banking, I would strongly suggest that you report the possible stolen information. Please do not use the computer for any further transactions, or to enter any other information, if at all possible, until it is declared clean.

You may want to read this article on how to handle identity theft.
You may also want to read this article regarding preventing of identity theft.

This computer can still be cleaned, however, I cannot guarantee that it will be 100% safe even after disinfection.

Please read When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall.

I will proceed assuming you wish to disinfect. If you want to do a reinstall, reply back saying so.

Let's get a more indepth look.

Download and Run OTListIt
Please download OTListIt by OldTimer to your desktop.
Open OTListIt by double clicking its icon. If you are using Windows Vista, right click OTL.exe and select Run As Administrator.
Click Run Scan without changing any settings. When the scan is complete, a logfile will open.
Copy the contents of the log into your next reply. It will be saved as OTL.txt where OTL.exe is located.

Download and Run Scan with GMER
We will use GMER to scan for rootkits.

Please download GMER to your desktop. Note that the file will be randomly named to prevent active malware from stopping the download.
  • Close all other open programs as there is a slight chance your computer will crash.
  • Double click the GMER program ******.exe. Your security programs may detect GMER's driver trying to load. Allow it.
  • You may see a warning saying "GMER has detected rootkit activity". If so, select NO.
  • Leaving the settings at default, click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click Save and save the log onto your desktop.
Please include the log in your next reply.

With Regards,
The Panda

I need you to help me understand something first... I have not gone to, or logged in to, my bank account online since this problem started. Does that matter? I mean, can a hacker still find out my info even though the last time I used my bank account online was weeks ago and I often clean my history?

Hello.

Most likely, if this computer has not been used for banking since after it was infected, you should be safe.

:thumbup2: Thank God - I was worried like hell about that and I hate to sound so ignorant but I don't know how people go about stealing information or how they go about getting it. I also didn't know if this could have been something that had been in my computer for some time but had just now "unleashed" itself. Like I said, these things are so complicated to me that I'm just paranoid. I've already check with the bank and they said everything looks fine - I haven't been on the bank website since late April. I REALLY APPRICIATE YOU HELPING WITH THIS!

If you don't mind, lets start by trying to get rid of this stuff...

Hello Blue moom.

Let's finish that off.

Run Fix with OTListIt
If you have lost your copy of OTListIt, please download a new one from here.
Copy the contents of the CodeBox below into the Custom Scans/Fixes.
:Services

:Reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\DomainProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List]

O1 - Hosts: 94.232.248.66 www.antivirussyspro2009.com

Click the Run Fix button. The fix should take a moment to complete. Post back with the logfile that opens.

After clicking Run Fix, OTListIt may ask to reboot the machine. If so, a logfile will open after the reboot.

Download and Run ATFCleaner
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program will clear out temporary files and settings. You will likely be logged out of the forum where you are recieving help.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program. If you are using Windows Vista, right click the icon and select Run As Administrator.
  • Under Main Select Files to Delete choose: Select All.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
F-Secure Online Scan
Please run F-Secure Online Scanner.
This scan is for Internet Explorer only.
  • It is suggested that you disable security programs and close any other windows during the scan. While your security is disabled, please refrain from surfing on other sites. Refer to this page if you are unsure how.
  • Go to F-Secure Online Scanner
  • Follow the instructions here for installation.
  • Accept the License Agreement.
  • Once the ActiveX installs, click Full System Scan
  • Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically. The scan will take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
  • Click the Show Report button and copy the entire report in your next reply.
  • Be sure to re-enable any security programs.

Also take a new OTListIt Scan log. Only the OTL.txt is needed.

With Regards,
The Panda

No problems that I can tell. thanks. The only thing I've noticed is that the time in bottom right of the scene started reading in military time after doing a scan and I don't know how to change it back to normal. Other than that, everything looks good. I'm still not going to ever log on to my bank or paypal account from this computer ever again. The shear thought of identity fraud is horrifying. :thumbup2:
