Hi everyone! I can use some help here!

My wife has a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic.. She said she saw "a wierd screen and she clicked disable." Ever since then her Synaptics PS/2 v3.6 mousepad won't work. I tried navigating through Vista and enabled and disabled it, and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver but nothing will get it to work.

Any ideas anyone? If you need any more information I'll be glad to provide it!

Thanx in advance for your help!

Hello, have you tried doing a System Restore to a date prior to that mishap?

The system restore should probably roll you back to a working setup. Let us know if it doesn't.

Thanks for your help!

For some reason when I try reverting I get an error message System Restore failed. An unspecified error occurred. I got a USB mouse so it isn't so urgent, (I wanted to anyway-the buttons are annoying.) but I would really like to fix it. Any more ideas? Thank You!!

At what point did the fail message come up when you were doing the restore? Were you doing a restore or a repair?

If youíve got the USB mouse, youíre set for right now (unless you donít take the USB mouse with you), so thatís good.

Hi!

I did a restore, not a repair, and I got the message after Windows restarted. The mouse is working fine, but I would love to get the touchpad working also. If you can help me I'd really appreciate it! Thank you for your help until now!

OK, thanks for the addition info. I'll see what I can find. What's the model number of that Satellite?

Hi! sorry for the delay in replying. For some reason it said last post was by me so I didn't realize you posted. I'll check manually now.

The laptop is model number Toshiba Satellite L305-S5944.

Thanks again for all your help!

I would try removing the touchpad drivers (via Device Manager) and then rebooting the system.

Current drivers may be damaged, impairing use of the touchpad.

Upon reboot, new drivers should install.

Hi! Thanks for your help!

I tried uninstalling the drivers but it didn't help. I even tried updating the driver from the Toshiba website but it didn't help. Any other ideas?

OK, I tried to see what I could find (sorry for the delay, we've been pretty deep in Windows 7 stuff). The best advice I can serve up at this time would be to get in touch with Toshiba support.

Here's their contact info: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp
