Hello,

I have a CD ROM disk with a Trojan on it. Norton AV recognized it, but was (obviously) unable to remove it. I have not downloaded the programs I need from the CD to my hard drive because I want to get rid of the Trojan first.

What would seem to make sense to me is to download everything from the CD onto my HD and then remove the Trojan...but there is a chorus of voices in my head shouting, "YOU MORON...WHY DID YOU KNOWINGLY PUT A VIRUS ON YOUR HD?" So...I have not done that.

But, I am not sure what to do! I need what is on the CD, but I don't want to bring on the Trojan.

Any advice? Thanks.

Ryan C.

CDs are read-only, unless you have a CD-RW.

Yes, I know they are read only. That is why I cannot remove the Trojan from the disk. So...what can I do?

You cannot. the disk is not rewriteable. changeable.. The virus had to be written to the CD when it was made.

Right, Okay.

So how do I determine if the Trojan is okay to bring onto my machine to delete?

Do you know what the trojan is called. Can you scan the CD?
