Homemade mic?

well i hav another topic posted kind of to do with this topic, my digital camera is also a mic, but it doesnt hook up to my computer anymore, but i read online that u can use headphones, i tried this, and it wurks, well...kinda, the signal is very very weak, and u can barely hear any of what is said into the mic, is there a way i can make it more sensitive? im using high quality phillips head phones, left one wurks best.
