Hello kellyaswift and welcome to the BC forums. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Download Miekiemoes' lqfix.zip and unzip the contents to your desktop. Do not run it yet.

Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {02EE5B04-F144-47BB-83FB-A60BD91B74A9} - C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\SskBho.dll (file missing)

O18 - Filter: text/html - {8293D547-38DD-4325-B35A-F1817EDFA5FC} - C:\Program Files\Cas\Client\casmf.dll

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\ <--folder
C:\PROGRAM FILES\VBouncer\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\Privacy Champion\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\Cas\ <--folder
C:\WINNT\system32\richedtr.dll
C:\WINNT\system32\PSof1.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\exp.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\wintask.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\richup.exe
C:\winnt\system32\eliteacy32.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\hmhnjk.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\dpmix.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\Yvmcpr.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\Zkwdgt.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\dmuoops.exe
C:\WINNT\VCMnet11.exe
C:\WINNT\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\WINNT\system\vkjcxq.exe

Step #5

Locate the LQFix.bat file on your desktop and double-click on it to run it. A DOS window will open and when it is finished a 'Done!' message will appear. Close the DOS window when it is finished.

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Trend Micro Housecall
BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan
Panda ActiveScan
eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner
Make sure that you choose "fix", "clean" or "autoclean". If you have any files that cannot be disinfected or quarantined automatically then delete them manually.

Step #7

AdAware SE v1.06

Download, install, update, configure and run a scan with Ad-aware SE v1.06:
  • Download and Install AdAware SE Personal, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.
  • Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:
        • Automatically save log-file
      • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
      • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
    • Under Definitions:
      • Prompt to update outdated definitions - set the number of days
  • Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Driver, Folders & Files:
      • Scan Within Archives
    • Under Select drives & folders to scan:
      • choose all hard drives
    • Under Memory & Registry: all green
      • Scan Active Processes
      • Scan Registry
      • Deep Scan Registry
      • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
      • Scan my Hosts file
  • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Shell Integration:
      • Move deleted files to recycle bin
    • Under Logfile Detail Level: all green
      • include addtional object information
      • DESELECT - include negligible objects information
      • include environment information
    • Under Alternate Data Streams:
      • Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
      • Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT
  • Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:
    • Under ‘Scanning Engine’:
      • Unload recognized processes during scanning
      • Scan registry for all users instead of current user only
    • Under ‘Cleaning Engine’:
      • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
    • Under Log Files:
      • Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Please do not check: Include Module list in logfile
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.
  • Click ‘Start’
  • Choose 'Perform Full System Scan'
  • DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
  • Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected and clean automatically.
  • If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window
  • Right-click on the list and choose Select All
  • Click the Next button to finish removing the items that were found
  • When finished, REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found
Step #8

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

I apologize for the delay in responding - I was on vacation. I followed your instructions. The only problem I encountered was after running Trend Micro and BitDefender On-Line Virus Scan, I was unable to "manually" delete, as you suggested, what was found. It seems my computer has a Trojan Worm. All else went smoothly. Here is my new HJT log. THANK YOU!

Hi kellyaswift. The log looks much better but we still have something hiding in there. Let's run a special tool to see if we can find it.
  • Download l2mfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.exe to start the installation.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts.
  • Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing the Enter key.
This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log. Copy/paste the entire content of that log into this thread and I will review the information when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi kellyaswift. Yes, it looks like we have an l2m infection here. Let's clean that up.

Print these directions or copy/paste them into a Notepad document and save it to your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop:
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing the Enter key.
  • Press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, Notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Post the new L2m logs back here along with a new HijackThis log and I will review the information when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi kellyaswift. Alright. That looks better. Now let's check for the second half of this infection.

Download WinPFind.zip and unzip the contents to the C:\ folder.

Locate the c:\winpfind\winpfind.exe file and double-click it to run it. now click the Start Scan button to begin the scan.

When the scan is complete, click the Copy to Clipboard button and then paste the contents of the log in your clipboard as a reply to this topic and I will review the information when it comes in.

Thanks again. Here is the WinPFind log:

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "not responding" you can ignore it. Windows is throwing this message up even though the program is still running. As long as the hard disk is working then the program is running.

Hi kellyaswift. Ok, let's take care of this part.
  • Download the Pocket Killbox.
  • Unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location and then double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Select the option Delete on Reboot
  • Highlight the files in bold below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard
    • C:\WINNT\RMAgentOutput.dll
      C:\WINNT\system32\redit.cpl
      C:\WINNT\system32\supdate.dll
      C:\WINNT\system32\thin-178-1-x-x.exe
      C:\WINNT\system32\wvwba.dat
      C:\WINNT\system32\Zkwdgtk1.xml
      C:\WINNT\system32\iniqw.dll
      C:\WINNT\system32\mqmfil32.exe
      C:\WINNT\system32\hmhnjk.exe
      C:\WINNT\cfgmgr52.dll
      C:\WINNT\system32\mpnuserr.exe
  • In Killbox click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard item
  • In the Full Path of File to Delete field drop down the arrow and make sure that all of the files are listed
  • Now click on the red button with a white 'X' in the middle to delete the files
  • Click Yes when it says all files will be deleted on the next reboot
  • Click Yes when it asks if you want to reboot now
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just reboot manually
  • After your system reboots, open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into the new document

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\mqmtngfx]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{be271bc8-a35b-4c61-b654-e1b896071197}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{be271bc8-a35b-4c61-b654-e1b896071197}]

  • Save the document to your desktop as fixqoo.reg and close Notepad. Locate the fixqoo.reg file on your desktop and right-click on it
  • Choose Merge from the popup menu and answer Yes or Ok to any further prompts
  • Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
    • O2 - BHO: CExtension Object - {0019C3E2-DD48-4A6D-ABCD-8D32436323D9} - C:\WINNT\cfgmgr52.dll
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2stQ35g] mqmfil32.exe

      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [JB24RRM5Q] mpnuserr.exe
  • Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.
  • Reboot and post a new HijackThis log along with a new WinPFind log
I will review the new information when it comes in.

Hi kellyaswift. Ok, let's see if we can't get the rest of this cleaned up now. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.

Hi kellyaswift. It looks like there is still a Qoologic infection here. There is a new version of WinPFind that gives a little more information so let's download that and run another scan.

[*]Download WinPFind
  • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
  • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
  • Dont do anything with it yet!
[*]Download Track qoo
  • Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
  • Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
  • Once the Scan is Complete[list=1]
  • Go to the WinPFind folder
  • Locate WinPFind.txt
  • Place those results in the next post!
Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If your Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

It has taken a while to respond because of problems with WinPFind. I followed your instructions several times, and each time while running WinPFind, the following error message occurs "List Index Out of Bounds (2)." I was also unable to locate WinPFind.txt. However, I did run Track qoo and here are the results:
