Hi everyone, please help me!

I recently put Windows XP on my computer...by the way, i don't know alot about computers...everything was working fine for a while and then i started recieveing fatal error msgs...and sometimes the comp would just shut down on its own...so i thought i should try re-installing XP and maybe that would fix the problem...anyway halfway throught the installation it gave me some message about missing a component or something...and i should try cleaning the disc..so i looked at the disk and it was scratched pretty badly..anyways now its stuck in installation mode and i can't get out!! it just keeps shutting off and on again and giving me the same message...i just want to get out of installation mode even if i have to lose all my files i dont care!! help, what should i do???!

thanks in advance

 ,alice_bianca
I don't think there is anyway out of this one. You will have to find another copy of XP to put on your computer.

Sorry.

I had this same problem, if you continue the installation without a clean disk. Youll end up missing some major componenets (paint, calculator, msconfig, soun drecorder...lots of things like that)

You need to contact Microsoft for a replacement disk. On this page, scroll down to "More Information" and pay special attention to the part about ordering a new disk from MS.
