Google usually comes up trumps when searching for startup processes within msconfig. Seems to flag up on a lot off Spanish & French HighjackThis logs but no English.

Anyone heard of this?

Not a good sign
I would treat it as malware

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

It appears to be a harmless Epson print utility, Epson Status Monitor 3. Removing from startup under msconfig seems to permanently remove it, having to add printer again to reinstall whereupon it renames itself E_S####. Bit weird behaviour but explains why exists on both my tower & laptop, though named differently.

For future reference, www.processlibrary.com is an amazing site with hundreds of processes listed and it even has a nice search feature where you can type in the name of any process you have currently running and it will tell you what it does
