I first noticed the redirection last night, but ran Trend and found nothing. Searched a little and found an older forum at your site which seemed helpful. I downloaded HijackThis as per the older forum directions (changed file.exe name), and ran it. My trouble is that I don't know what to do with the information the scan gave me!
I can use my internet if I paste in an url or use a shortcut from my favorites, but the redirection from Google continues.

Another problem which popped up before I noticed the Windowsclick event was that Nero and Ashampoo both suddenly failed to find my dvd/cd drives. This may be unconnected, but I uninstalled both, ran CCleaner and reinstalled a trial version of Nero. Still no recognition of the dvd /cd burner. I know the burner works, Windows still recognizes it and my ConvertXto DVD program still functions with the burner.

I am really timid about trying to fix this myself, so I'm hoping someone with lots more experience can guide me through a repair.

This is the log from HijackThis

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

Kind regards
