I am using the removal guide you have for "How to remove Ultra Antivirus 2009 (Removal Guide)". I can download the mbam-setup.exe file but I cannot run it, as I get a small white info window in the lower-right corner that says: Warning! Application cannot be executed . The file mbam-setup.exe is infected. Please activate your antivirus software." I tried about 8 times and always get that message and the setup program never completes.
Any ideas on how to defeat this virus??
Thanks, Miami Joe

Hey there

Rename the mbam-setup.exe file to... installer.exe

That should get you going!

If renaming mbam does not work, post back.
We have a few other alternatives

OK, I downloaded Mbam-seup.exe on another PC and then ran it on the other PC; it created a directory with about 10 files.
I renamed MBAM.EXE to Installer.exe.
I then burned a CD-ROM with that directory and the files on them.
I put the CD-ROM in the infected laptop and tried to run it from the CD-ROM, but it says "Installer.exe is an infected file" and will not let it run.
It also says CMD.exe is an infected file, so I cannot get to REGEDIT to try editing the registry entries.
This seems to be an improved version of this virus.
I tried booting in the SAFE mode, but I get the Blue screen with a failure notice when I do that.
My Last Resort is to RESTORE from a Dell XP Home Restore CD-ROM (as soon as I locate it).
Any more suggestions before I try the Last Resort??
Thank you for the suggestions so far!!!
Renaming the .exe file was an EXCELLENT idea...
