What is the extension of the attached file?
Can you open it in a regular word processor?

The extension is .doc It automatically tries to open in wordpad by default. I think all .doc files open in wordpad don't they? So confused cause this one won't?

.doc is the extention that is used by Microsoft Word. Notepad default is .txt. and wordpad is .rtf.

Cut and paste it from your mail program into whatever word processor you use so you can modify it if that's what you need to do.

Have the document resent. This error is commonly caused by a bad download.
