sony vaio recovery

i have a sony vaio laptop(notebook) PCG-TR2

my own recovery discs did not work so i ordered sony's

powers on and off but cannot get anything to happen exit to initialize BIOS
-only message - disk read error

upon inserting sony's DVD - still no "action" having followed the directions

---HAVE RECOVERY DVD from sony -
notebook powers on but could not get system to recover internally or from the recovery discs i made - NOW am experiencing nothing with the recovery disc i purchased from sony -

Not familiar with Sony laptops, but on my Toshiba you have to 'press C' while it's booting up to make it boot from the CD-ROM drive (with CD No. 1 already in the drive, of course).
