i,m looking at a gateway model GM5045E that don,t even beep. i first blew out the puter,took out the ram and blew out the slots,checked the psu which checked out fine with a psu checker, even tried getting into the bios.....all i get is a black screen

Seems that you've already opened your system, but for such cases,

all i get is a black screen


I suggest to check the monitor first. From my experience that's usually the problem. Not the system.

No video? Is the computer posting? if it seems to be posting then I would try another monitor, then another graphics adapter. If you still get nothing try stripping the computer down to the memory, video, processor and see if it will post.

tried a different monitor,taking the cards out down to video,cpu,memory...still no post. the person had it on for awhile then shut it off then wouldn,t even go into bios. Also tried taking the cmos battery out and resseting the bios to no avail?????

Sounds like the Motherboard died on you. What kind of computer is it?

it,a a gateway model GM5045E media center computer, a compatible mb would be helpfull

found out it,s an uBTX mb which gateway and 1 other manufacterer uses,,, ugh!!!!! a Foxconn 105552 mb 10.4x10.5..... don,t know if an atx mb can fit right in
