mp3 hardware removal

hope you can help me i am new to all this.
i have been downloading music onto my mp3 player and up until now have had no trouble removing it after doing so.
but now my little symbol at the bottom of the screen that says remove hardrive has gone and not sure how to do it myself.
how can i get this symbol back?
if any one has any ideas i would be very gratefull.
i am running windows xp

hi the same thing happened to me after i failed to click on the safely to remove hardware icon. and just pulled my mp3 player out.
how i got over it was do a restore and restart my computer. it came back and now i make sure i uninstall properly.
try that and see.
Now installed Microsoft Security Essencials on my Tower with Windows Home Premium 32bit and Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop with Windows Home Premium 64bit

unfortunatly re booting the computor didnt work nor did turning the computor off :thumbsup:
